Let's not forget what they did to Max Cleland - triple amputee. McCain, to his credit, spoke up in 2002 about the treatment of Cleland. But in 2008, he has no problem being a party to the worst kind of personal attacks on his opponent's patriotism. The 2008 McCain is not the same as the 2002 McCain. He is not even the same McCain as the one who ran in the primaries.

These hypocrites should realize that true patriotism is not wearing a lapel pin but instead consists of not running down heroes and patriots like Sen. John McCain, John Kerry and triple amputee Max Cleland.

The speakers at the Republican convention were focusing their flock's attention on McCain's disabilities arising from his torture. I ask them why they denigrated a triple amputee who lost his limbs in combat.

I guess they need to reminded of the phrase:

I cried because I had no socks until I met a man who had no feet.
