What's happened is that the Democrats have tilted so very far to the left that they have forced the Republicans, not just to the center, but almost to the left of center. ...I just hope that McCain's play to the "independents" and willingness to "reach across the aisle" doesn't make him a patsy for the real agenda of the left, which is to emasculate the country and make us just like the weak Europeans, who cannot get out of their own way.

If the Democrats have abandoned their centrists the right answer is for McCain to scoop the abandoned center into the GOP. That's how you make majorities. That's what Reagan did. You hardly have adopt Dem principles if the Dem Party has already yielded the ground.
