I own oil stocks too, because they have been a damn good investment with Bush and the neocons in power. Uh.. excuse me.. At the time of the Elk Hills sale, Clinton/Gore were in control.. So apparently the "thing to invest in" was Occidental Petroluem (OXY) during the Clinton/Gore years. If McCain is elected, I'd pull my money out of alternatives because I know for sure he won't do a damn thing. His voting record doesn't lie. Do you deny this? I'd have to see the bills he was voting on. Because many of these alternative energy bills were tacked as earmarks. But I'm not stating that the Republicans haven't been derelict in supporting viable alternative energy (or at least transition to NG). What I'm stating is that BOTH parties are responsible. But in the case of Gore, given his blatant hypocrisy in profiting on OXY stock, while decrying C02 and GW from Fossil Fuels, is something that is well worth mentioning. All the smart money knows that Obama will be elected and that alternatives are going to be a very big deal, perhaps a bigger wealth creator than the Internet. Again, only the very foolish will stay out of this money maker. Wealth creation for whom?? If Alt-Energy is so promising then I guess it doesn't need subsidization, right? Doesn't need those extended tax credits, right?? Let's try and not be so partisan here. We have a problem, namely increased global competition for limited energy resources. For global economic growth to continue, we must have new sources of energy as well as more efficient use of that energy. For the US to avoid becoming irretrievably entangled in the coming resource wars, I think McCain is one of the few who recognizes that energy independence equates to foreign policy options. And he's not picky about what kind of energy that equates to. Energy is energy and the more of it that we produce domestically, the better.
