"What is the root cause of the failure to graduate?"

Good question for Palin, since Alaska ranks 50th in HS graduation. First, she has to make an appearance.

>>I think States are much better geared towards ensuring that HS students enter programs to prepare them for fields in their State.

Obama could have spent his time in this area with job training to teach construction skills to these disadvantaged groups and then made sure they got work instead of all the illegals doing construction around here. I think a community organizer and state senator with his connections could have done something.<<

Q -

Obama's education plans are all about providing assistance to the States, so there's no conflict with your view.

As for how Obama spent his time as a community organizer, I would submit that you have no idea what he did, or what the people who were paying him were instructing him to do. It's not like a community organizer goes out into the community as some kind of potentate, with the power to do whatever he wants to do. The man was working a job for an annual salary far lower than he could have easily gotten elsewhere. He was being of service to his community. I seem to recall that on the first day of the RNC, they were talking about "service" and waving signs about it. But you seem to want to second guess Obama's agenda and criticize him for not solving all the community's problems single handedly.

One final point. Your idea that illegal aliens are the cause of all or most of our society's problems is simplistic.
