Ouch... here, you don't register for voting, and you don't get elected for a jury against your will. Everybody gets a letter about upcoming votes sent by mail, and transport to voting places is arranged if you're not able to come by yourself. Voting by letter is arranging in old people's homes in order to save them the trouble of having to go somewhere.

When my mother-in-law voted last time, her leg was broken in a way that made it really hard for her to move. Instead of getting a wheelchair etc., the local voting committee sent 2 people out to make it possible for her to vote without leaving the car.
