Regulated these guys so there wasn't a bubble and so the government wouldn't have to play catch up and become the worlds largest F'ing mortgage holder/seller. You like small government, you hate socialism? Guess what, you just got F'ed by the Bush Neo's. The Feds just took over a huge % of the financial marketplace.

I understand you want government more involved. When I asked for specifics, I was really trying to figure out exactly what you think the Bush administration should have done. When you say they should have "regulated" these companies, what does that mean? What would Bush have had the legal right to have done from a regulation POV? Would Bush have said, "You cannot lend on this property"? Might he have said, "Southern California realty is too expensive, so you can lend in Arkansas but not SOCAL"? What exactly do you have in mind?

Also, I noticed you dodged the central question of my previous post. You're picking up techniques from your leader.

the dems have been whining about red lining and that blacks couldn't get mortgages, so they lowered the standards and now "the chickens have come home to roost"
