Just saw the start of Zakaria's show, but had to stop watching because we have company arriving.
He is talking to press from all over the world to get their views on the conventions and the election. He wondered how Palin with her guntotin' religious views played abroad. Will be curious to hear their opinions.

As we know, Bush's cowboy act was not greeted warmly.

But not nearly so great as the risk that Obama and Congress will pile on so many future spending obligations and make us so dependent that we won't have the luxury of worrying about intelligent design. That's close to a sure thing as there is in politics.

Hard to defend that since in the 90s the Dems became the party of responsible fiscal management and in the 2000s the Reps became the part of borrow and spend. And this time around Obama is the one who talks about dealing with the deficits.

If I were less of a patriot and a humanist, I would vote for Obama in a heartbeat.

A very strange statement. I hope you are not joining in the chant that Obama is not a patriot. "And a humanist," what does that have to do with the price of corn?

Yep, that would be the easy choice. I don't know why I care about legacy and posterity.

A familiar refrain from a previous president. Perhaps you forgot that.

Considering the budget history of the reps, I don't see how any economic considerations could make you vote aginst the dems- if debt is what you are actually concerned about.

Karen -

Independent analyses of the taxation and spending plans have all indicated that Obama's plans would result in less government debt than McCains, by significant amounts.
