Increasing numbers of docs and nurses are refusing to participate in the procedure I don't have any houseplants anymore. I used to feel pangs of guilt when I trimmed a philodendron and threw the clippings in the trash rather than putting them in water so they could fulfill their destiny and live and grow. So I'm pretty sure I'd find it hard to conduct an abortion. I don't have a religious bone in my body but I respect life and the promise of life. But that doesn't make abortion murder. And it sure doesn't mean I'd make it illegal to discard incipient life. Those are private choices.

If you don't base it on religion, I'm not sure what you base it on. If people are just doing it on the basis of what they think about sonograms and viability- then you are back to "I just don't like it"- which is even weaker than "My God says you can't do it". Unless you think there is something more than that going on. If you can explain what you think is so convincing I'd like to understand it- but so far all I see it "My God says ..." And "I don't like this particular kind of killing"- so again, it's "I don't like it, or my God doesn't like it". I'm not making it solely a religious issue. I mentioned that some people are just uncomfortable with it- but I'm not sure how you argue that dislike isn't merely a dislike.
