I heard this, and his remarks about considering joining the military were, to me, totally devoid of credibility.

I just don't think so. The man has no respect, whatsoever, for the military as he has shown time and again (most notably, when he gave an entire speech on "public service" over Memorial Day weekend without managing to mention military service EVEN ONCE).

I think he was lying through his teeth.
