Most of us are humanists and patriots here- and we come to different conclusions.

That's not the point. Of course those perspectives can lead different people in different direction. That's the choice for me--comfort vs patriotism/humanism. For each of us it would be different. And for some of us, there is no conflict so there's no choice to be made.

I can't argue with that. But he has a lot of short term pressures. And I've noticed he avoids costing his various spending proposals. Just today in the discussion of social security remedies, he carefully made the point that his tax increase wouldn't affect 99% of the voters. He's clearly aware of the outstretched hands. Every politician knows you don't mess with benefits. And official program costing doesn't reach into the out years. It's easy to avoid looking at the out years. I'm not sanguine, regardless of his intelligence and his children.
