Given these relative negatives, I don't see how you are having any difficulties choosing.

I take your point. You will not find me advocating McCain. To me it's a vote for or against Obama. The "against" vote just happens to be labeled "McCain."

I see negatives on both sides. I discount some of McCain's negatives because, with mixed government, he would have limited opportunity to pursue them. The rest, I tote up and find them less weighty. I think the greatest risk is the long term impact of entitlements. It would take a whole lot of McCain negatives to outweigh that. McCain definitely has a challenging list but not in a class with that.

I don't believe that he would do that, at least not more than at the margins. I don't believe he's that kind of person. I would expect the decent McCain to show up after the election. I realize though, that's not a given.
