Yes, and we had 350,000 American occupation forces in Japan by 1945 and still have close to 50,000 there today, as compared to less than 150,000 in Iraq since 2003. The Iraq post-war has been a how-to guide on incompetence, whereas McArthur was a brilliant strategist and nation builder. If Iraq has taught us one thing, it is that Bush and his administration are completely incompetent. Thank God we have smart generals like Petraeus to save us from moronic civilian administrators.

But there are big differences between Japan and Iraq. Japan was a defensive war. They attacked us and wouldn't quit, so we had no choice but to fight them to submission and ensure they remained passive afterwards. Iraq was a war of choice over our oil supplies and we remain there primarily to secure our oil supplies. Given that fact, the only sensible evaluation of this war is one in terms of cost/benefit. I doubt we'll get a decent return on the $800B we've already spent there. And to compound that error, we'll never get those 4,150 American lives back either.

The Japanese were sino religious-fascists their king was a god. Iraqis didn't consider Saddam a god. Read a history book

I had a "History of Japan" class in college. It was more boring than you would expect. You are correct sir. Just looking at World War II you can see how improved their society is...
