Interesting to note the list of things Palin has accomplished that democrats don't like is longer than the list of all things Obama has ever accomplished.

I actually don't think a small town taking on debt to build a small sports complex for its citizens is a bad use of taxpayer money. Given the meth problem in Wasilla, I can see how the mayor would want to bring some recreation to the town youth and raise taxes to build it.

But the process was handled in a - how to put this kindly - less than professional way, witness the budget problems in the aftermath of its completion, the lawyer fees because they didn't get their permitting done right the first time etc. That said, this type of stuff is pretty commonplace is small towns. Hard to get qualified people to tie off all the strings needed to pull off things like building a gym.

I also looked into the whole Alaska Independent part thing. You might find this video interesting. Doesn't sound like she's a rabid supporter of the AIP, just friendly to their members.
