Unless you live in NJ, I can pretty much guarantee that I am at a higher tax rate than you. I would pay higher taxes if I knew my tax dollars were going to help states fund: Primary Education Health Care Reform and an unrestricted National Universal Health Care for at least everyone under 18, focusing on a preventitive lifestyle Mandatory 6 months disability paid leave for women having children Infrastructure redevelopment: High Speed Trains, Upgraded Air Traffic Control, Alternative Energy Research credits Also taxes don't always have to be INCOME taxes, there are various other taxes that become choice-related such as expansion of the gas guzzler tax, federal taxes on alcohol and tobacco. Military Spending is not on the list. I can tell you just to be clear: My kids go to the best schools in NY I have health care coverage I have an SUV My wife doesn't work I feel bad that others cannot at least have SOME things which I consider basic human rights. I think it's criminal for a woman to have to go back to work 6 weeks after birth because she can't afford not to. This is one of many reasons why so many kids are f*cked up.
