Great article -- but Sarah has a tough fight coming up. Every reporter in the nation is going to be gunning for her.

Her first press conference should go something like this:

Andrea Mitchell: Gov. Palin, could you name the president of Abkhazia?

Palin: Now, Ms. Mitchell, this is not a game. I'm here to take serious questions only.

Mitchell: But this is a serious question. If you're going to be VP, you have to know these things.

Palin: But, Ms. Mitchell, have you ever asked Mr. Obama that question?

Mitchell: I'll ask the questions. Can you name the president of Abkhazia?

Palin: Well, it is Sergei Bagapsh, last time I checked. Now, could we get on with more serious questions? Ms. Brown, you're next.

Campbell Brown: Gov. Palin, could you the number of square acres occupied by the nation of Gabon?

Vetting democrat style:

"Meanwhile, the Dems continue to show their true colors, dredging for dirt on the VP, with MoveOn.org affiliates offering up to $5,000 for damaging info."

A friend of mine has been watching the conventions and speeches much more than I do. She really liked parts of Palin's speech, but was turned off by negative statements and implications about Obama. Of course is normally the VP candidates job to pull down the other side, and from what I saw of the speech Palin did a good job of it without coming off as mean spirited.

She saw a recent speech by McCain and was really impressed. She even seemed to be wavering in her support for Obama, but in the end I think she will wind up voting for Obama. Almost all her friends are Obama supporters, she has an Obama t-shirt, buys in to the whole idea of "change" (without the details of the change seemingly being all that important) etc.

One issue that pulls her toward the Republican side is oil. She basically supports drill everywhere, drill now. Other issues pull her more to the Democrats, but in the end I think she will vote Democrat because she identifies more with them, and hangs around more people who support them, rather than for concrete policy reasons. That's not uncommon. A lot of people vote mostly because of such reasons, and I'd say a majority vote at least partially for such reasons.

Palinated

By Jim Simpson | Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
I am no respecter of persons. Like any good conservative, I always stress principles over personalities. It is, after all, what counts in the long run. Democrats, are you listening? Doubt it. But I have to confess that since Sarah Palin’s speech Wednesday night I have been transfixed, transformed –- converted. I have become a shameless devotee of the Mayor of Wasilla. Call me Palinated, Palinized, a Sarahcolyte, whatever. I am now an unapologetically adoring fan.

First there was Obamaniac; now there is Palinated. Can you guys ever do anything original?

In any case, there is a difference between the two......the 'substance' behind Palin is a bit soiled. People tend to see through fool's gold. Meanwhile, Obama is an exercise in quality. There is a difference and it will become more apparent going forward.

Yeah, "good, principled conservative" and after 8 years of conservative garbage what have we got?

Largest debt and deficits ever...

Major Financial System collapse...

Health Care costs out of control...

Military spending out of control and even worse funded by the Chinese...

Two wars and silly spending of $1 Bn in Georgia trying to start another one...

No energy policy while we send $700 Bn a year to people, some who may be using our funds to give to those who want to kill us...

Nuclear Non-Proliferation policy gone crazy. We are spreading Nuke technology to hotspots such as India...

Our enemies such as Iran strengthened by our insane foreign policy. ..

USA reputation world wide never lower when we more than ever need allies and friends to prevent WMD terrorism on our shores...

And Global Climate Change endangers our planet and the "principled good conservative" answer is "Drill, Baby, Drill".

Oh yeah, we have seen what those "good conservative principles" count for in the long run.

Yup, give you people 4 more years so you can finish the destruction of our country.
