I wonder if I would have mastered idioms in each language more quickly if I had learned in a palace?

i guess you think you are being clever by pretending i believe one needs to learn languages in a palace. but you are not clever, you are just very immature.

i responded to your post because you were calling your niece stupid because she didn't learn to speak French after studying it in high school. i pointed out that the way such classes are taught doesn't promote language learning.

i further pointed out that you shouldn't already write off her chances at Japanese at U of H, since Japanese, especially at the college level, is generally taught much more effectively than French is at the high school level.

since you were the one who brought up U of H, i thought i would mention that U of H is widely recognized as an excellent language school, especially in Korean. i would expect their Japanese dept to be quite good as well. i mentioned in passing that the Korean Studies dept looks like a Buddhist temple. (i have visited some temples in Korea, which was the basis for my statement.)

you then, in a pathetic attempt to win an argument (which until that point was, in my mind, merely a discussion), take the absurdist line that i am promoting language learning in palaces. you totally forget we were talking about your niece's language learning prospects at U of H, and you also manage to brag about your own French and Spanish accomplishments.

so, for you the point of posting is always to put down others, for whatever reason, and to elevate yourself. mission accomplished.

you also avoided having an intelligent discussion, but for you i see that is beside the point.
