Creationism should not be mentioned or discussed in a science class, because there is no credible science behind it.

It's like someone wanting to discuss numerology beliefs in math class - it makes no sense.

Creationism can and is discussed in the proper context - religious classes.

"Why should the mention of creationism as an alternate belief system not be allowed."

One reason is that it has no basis in fact.....it's a fairy tail that is inane..... It doesn't require teaching, just one 5 minute description covers it.... the most ridiculous part is that creationists want science to defend evolution with science but they will never subject religion to the same scientific tests...

And it has little to do with the constitution; it has to do with teaching science or fantasy..... Keep your free speech in the churches where it belongs (and sensible churches don't accept it).

Mrs Palin should excuse herself from the creationist discussion if she wants to maintain any credibility at all.....right now she's just considered an undereducated former beauty queen....
