Yes, he is still alive. I do not know his politics, but I doubt they are similar to those of Alec Baldwin and Barbra Streisand.

James Garner is now 80. I was disappointed to read the following in his bio:

"Although Garner is a lifelong liberal Democrat, his best friend is a conservative Republican."

The "conservative Republican" isn't named, but we know it can't be John McCain. LOL
