Something I believe, is that at this moment in time, the electoral college favors Republicans over Democrats. The reason is that my impression is that liberal states are a bluer blue than conservative states are red and because of the winner take all system, it wouldn't hurt Republicans if every New Yorker and Californian in their states voted. Democrats could get another majority and lose.

I decided to check a bit further, but as of today, McCain leads by double digits in 9 states and Obama leads by double digits in 9 states.
