I said earlier that my Electoral College vote as of last Sunday stood at McCain 295, Obama 243. This is based on my belief that Michigan is now moving into the McCain column.

Let's hope you are right on Michigan. During a motorscooter ride yesterday, I couldn't help noticing all the Obama yard signs. It was something I expected on the artsy fartsy lakeshore part of the trip, but it was a good 40 miles before a McCain sign came in view and probably another 40 miles before another one was seen. As best I can tell in my particular township there is one generic "Vote Republican" sign.

Clearly Palin has put much wind in his sails, but I don't think McCain has anything near the organization that W had. Despite all that, my gut says Michigan will be very competitive. Like many states, take away our biggest city and we are pretty conservative.
