You could never convince me that evangelical thinking is behind the failure of our schools to interest students in science. I don't know where you come up with this, it's so bizarre.

Kids come out of school sorely lacking in reading and writing skills. Does that have anything to do with religious values?

Also, before you reach all these conclusions, it would be better to know exactly what she does believe. As for stem cells, I think she preferred that the research not come from using embryonic stem cells.

I think you are probably finding her much scarier than she will prove to be when pinned down on her religious ideas.

As for the rest of the world, it has plenty of reasons to laugh at us but I don't think science is much of an issue. One reason foreign students pursue science, physics, and engineering like they do is because those are very math based. Math is a universal language...much easier for a foreign student to advance in than learning the language of other countries.
