I didn't notice any different at 11,000 feet, on top of Mt. Hood. Of course, that was about 30 years ago.

I did OK at 9000 feet this summer, though.

Back in the old days....I spent some time in Denver....

I remember the 1st day I thought to go rockchuck hunting with my new Colt....357

drove an hour or so into the mountains....sat a spell searching the "rocks".....got bored and found a target to plink....

never thought the thin air would magnify the sound....touched off one...and only one round without headgear.

I though my skull was cracked....2 days before the ringing stopped....

good thing my darling Mother was such a great cook.....dinner made the boo boo easier to deal with.

My very good friend was recently visited by her friend from Atlanta. Shirley told her to plan to spend a few days with her at this elevation before taking off for the week she planned in Breckenridge (elevation 8200 feet). She was glad she took the extra time because her daughter from San Francisco came here and went straight to Breck. Was sick most of the week they were there. The air is thinner and you have to be careful about it.

We've visited my BIL in Denver before and never had trouble with the altitude there. He had a condo at Buffalo Mountain in Summit County. I got winded just going up the stairs to the second floor of the condo. Elevation there, I believe was right around 9,500'.
