"feminism" ...started out as a necessary antidote to a real wrong Believe this will be the second time in ten or eleven years when I thought you were semi-fulla doo-doo. And I pay attention to, almost always respect your opinions. Seems to me the forces that liberated women from being child-bearing grunts were the developments in the uses of expanding capital. Revert to the situation that existed just two or three centuries back, and women, among other survivors, will be back in the hole. In the 50's my Ma, a single woman, was offended because advancement was largely limited to the male "breadwinners". I sympathized, then as now, but there were larger forces at work. Me, I'm right glad that women can now contribute so much more. But it didn't come to pass through feminist exercise of political coercion.

It had to do with the inflation in the early 70's and stagnant wages. Result of Viet Nam War and no taxes, guns and butter, begun by LBJ and continued under Nixon. Husbands could no longer afford families. Capitalism had to have two bread earners. Unleashing the female work force also grew the capitalist system. Betty Friedan was a card carrying communist. Feminism was a plank in the party in the 40's and 50's. Her equally red husband left her; so in revenge she wrote her book and caught the gestalt. In the process they destroyed the family structure and zeroed out the birth rate among whites. They've had open immigration, illegal and otherwise, since the late 70's, trying to raise the number of workers compared to retirees, so they could afford the boomers retirement years.
