Almost all of the great things in Alaska have been done by the few dems up here, including: First, right at statehood we had the great Earnest Gruening who was only one of two senators to oppose the viet Nam war. The pther being Wayne Morse of oregon. Dems! And the Great Bob Bartlett and Nick Begish. The last 30 years we had Stevens, Murkoski and Young all Republicans and two of them now under investigation for bribary and other crimes. And Murkoski was even worse being totally in bed with the oil companies. The reason Palin was able to knock him off. Alaska Permanent fund: the ad hoc dems (my friends) fought the Republicans and oil companies to get it passed. We told the republicans that we were going to put 25% of all the money from the oil into a special fund for our children. The republicans wanted to spend it all. It now has over 40 billion in it and pays all of our state expenses and on th 12 of this month every man, woman and child in the state will get a check for $3,268. And I expect that will be the new amount we can expect each year. We set up the first womens commision to help women. My ex was the first chairwomen of that committee. In fact we concentrated on putting legislation into effect that would help the poor, disadvantaged and citizens in general. We put in a comprehensive emergency medical system to aid our citizens as we are so big it was a tough problem to get the injured or sick person medical help. I was the lead person for that endeavor. Before I started we had nothing. We put together a comprehensive alcoholism and drug abuse program and fought the Republicans every step of the way for money as they do not like social programs like that. I also lead that one. I cannot think of a single major constructive thing the republicans have in alaska except cost us billions of dollars in lost revenue by selling us out to the oil companies. And I have been up here for forty years and involved in politics for most of that time. The dems had the ideas and the Republicans just sort of drooled and got in our way-lol. And if you and others want this country turned around you would be smart to vote for Obama and other dems, as we dems know how to govern!!
