1.)then you may have to stay forever... in fact you would to make sure.

Doesn't look like it. I think we'll phase down over time and we're starting to do that now.

2.) That has never been a reason to go to war.

Bush and Congress decided to go to war and thats that. Whether or not the decision to go to war was a good one, we should strive to end the war on favorable terms for us, for Iraq, and for the region, not terrible terms for all.

3.) You shoulda left Saddam in power then because he hated those guys.

A lot of people think Saddam should have been kept as a puppet. Trouble is he would have been a puppet who hated us and did a lot of bad things for the region and us. Like starting new wars every few years, developing and using WMD's, supporting terrorists. Further, most of the world and all of the Arab world, beleived we were murdering 50K Iraqi children every year by maintaining UN sanctions on Iraq. Remember, that was one of Osama's justifications for the fatwa on us he issued right after Clinton threatened to overthrow Saddam in 1998.

Bottom line:

The decision to go to war has been made and at the time it was a bipartisan decsions. We can't change the past. There were problems with whichever way we dealt with Saddam and Iraq - leaving him in power or overthrowing him.
