Do you think I said it's the lack of religious training that CAUSES parents to neglect and abuse their children?

I didn't read "church-going" as "religious training." I read "church-going" as accustomed, active attendance at church services. I work at actively reading what people actually write.

It seems almost intuitive.

Perhaps to a church-goer.

I think problematic behavior is pretty closely associated with socioeconomic status, though I also think religion is a factor, and within the category of religion, which religion.

When I was a youngster me and my lower class, children of immigrants peers were mischievous but well liked by the teachers cause we didn't create problems ... we were all Catholics and Catholics were very much into the "spare the rod" theory back then. I think any exposure to nuns at all tends to make boys better behaved.
