Russia itself recognized Georgia's independence, as did just about every other country in the world. Its not just about "the west" recognizing the independence.

Out of all the US actions you mention, none are relevant. Iraq would be if we had split off part of Iraq and installed a puppet government and where apparently planning to, or least seriously considered the idea of annexing that part (with the agreement of the puppet government) at a later date, or perhaps if we really where "stealing Iraq's oil", but neither of those things actually happened.
