The fact is that the damage was done to the budget in the 2001-2006 period, BEFORE Pelosi ever came on board. At this point they are just treading water. They have not done any significant budget busting since Pelosi came in. Here is a site with some FACTS. See the massive red line, the sharp increase came during Bush's first term. zfacts.com The fact is, republicans spent so much that even if the dems wanted to spend, they can't. The country is broke, and any more spending will crash the dollar further, which will lead to MORE stagflation and increasing interest rates. Pelosi, the dems and Obama are stuck with this mess the republicans made. They are going to have to raise taxes and cut services in the next administration, no other way.
