yes- but remember that as uninspiring as Kerry was, he still managed to almost win in an election where the Bush problems were still hidden from many americans (unwinnable war, deficits etc).

Going into this election I thought that McCain could turn some of those Kerry states, because those people were mostly just voting against Bush. But now with Palin, thats impossible.
