I'm all for increased R&D, but we should not discriminate on the technologies I didn't say to discriminate. And CAFE standards might be useful, but how do you translate that to natural gas vehicles? And if I'm using bio-diesel, do I have to meet CAFE standards as well? I think if we help people to make the transition less financially painful, and ensure that alt-energy access is widespread, then we'd go very far towards alleviating much of the problem. I know, for example, I'd be happy to convert my SUV to either bio-diesel or NG. But with the tyrannical emissions regulations and/or permitting process in my state, it's cost prohibitive. Want government to be involved?? That's a good place to start.. Start assisting people so they are enabled at the grass-roots level. Hawk
