Actually, my data was very specific data ground in fact. The losing 10% over an 8 year period happens to be the exact losses on the S&P500 over the last 8 years. And the 25% loss in purchasing power happens to be the exact impact of compounded inflation over the last 8 years due to the dollars devaluation, which is in turn due to our swelling deficits and debt. So my example was exactly what has happened to the average American's portfolio over the last 8 years, which EXACTLY reflects the overall economic situation in the US.
