I have a copy of the Evens book sitting on my floor waiting to be read. History has not been kind to the old leftists. Good. Reading Whittaker Chambers' "Witness" was a seminal moment in my political development. I wish that he had lived to see himself be fully vindicated. I was delighted when Reagan awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Reagan had a under appreciated sense of history. I'm suspect that you have read Allen Weinstein's "Perjury: The Hiss-Chambers Case" and "The Haunted Wood: Soviet Espionage in America - The Stalin Era."
