Because you're a teacher, probably a good one. When a teacher gives out a particular book, it conveys to the student a sense of approval. Since the God Delusion is a polemic that seeks to disprove the existence of God by discrediting God....mainly on the basis of religious wars, a student will get the sense that you agree with that argument. The fact that it's a fallacious argument on it's face is much too sophisticated for a person of that age to reason out for himself. So in a sense a teacher is indeed a gatekeeper. Would you pass out the Left Behind series? Are they in the school library? Are any religious tracts or novels in the school library or being passed out by teachers?
