I bet it isn't helpful to Palin.<<

Rambi -

I agree with you. It seemed to me that the cuts came when Palin was digging herself a hole, and wasn't finished talking yet. I'm pretty sure those cuts were merciful.

Having not seen the unedited version, though, I can't be certain.

I hope the Republicans make such a stink about the biased editing that they force ABC to air the entire interview.

I found this an apt take on the Palin interview and its significance.

"I haven't watched the interview yet, but my understanding is that, as I have been predicting (privately to friends, unfortunately, rather than in public where I could take credit), she came out looking like a moron on foreign policy. Her lack of knowledge worries me rather less than most people, since if McCain dies in office she'll probably have had at least as long to bone up on crucial foreign policy issues as Barack Obama has had. But I don't see how you can vote for a candidate without being able to assess their foreign policy reasoning, which is a tad difficult if they have no facts to reason from."

I agree. If I get a chance later today I'll post the basic NYTimes view, written by Jim Rutenberg. A deliberately sober, balanced view. You can almost feel him writing it with all sorts of interested folk peering over his shoulders.

But I'm out and about this morning. So it will be afternoon.

Also, a terrific Krugman column today. Haven't read the Brooks column yet, but a quick skim looked as if it was Brooks in his most boring and unqualified mode--social philosopher.
