San Diego mortgage payment to rent ratio chart in article is very good. It suggests the ratio will drop to about 6% based upon historic tracking. Since the chart was as of Dec. 2007, we may be getting close to that 6% number soon:

As I listen to our leaders, regardless of party, I am, as you are, continually astounded at the total lack of understanding of basic economic reality. To listen to our leaders as they propose "solutions" to "problems" just makes me hang my and want to cry. But unfortunately that does nothing as they are still our leaders and our problems remain without understanding much less a reasonable concept of a solution by those in a position to do something.
