Not sure how it all works but I think of it as a huge wheel turning, feeding on itself, creating its own momentum yet based on Jobs and the trading, exchanging of Money as the Momentum source. As Jobs diminish and the Money exchanging slows down... the huge wheel stops turning or at least slows down measurably. Add to this the extension of Credit, in all its various forms, that can never be repaid and you have a huge wheel that has stopped turning. Thinking out loud again... regards
