It's a culmination of many years of neglect. It's a story that can be told over and over again across various parts of our country whether it be transportation infrastructure, energy policy, financial regulation, health-care, education, foreign relations, tax and spend policy, the list goes on and on. Neglect, neglect, neglect...Enough, Enough, Enough.

The party that has basically been in charge during this time period have been the Republicans, with a brief respite for Bill Clinton where it did seem that some improvements were being made. Including crossover Democrats, the Republicans have effectively had all the branches of gov't as far as I am concerned since 2000.

I do feel that our global standing was highest after Bush I and that it was a little lower, but not much lower, after Clinton.

Other than Obama and a unified Congress and Executive, I honestly don't know what it takes to turn things around. At the end of the day this is a democracy so if the people speak and they want more of the same, then they are gluttons for punishment, I guess.
