Speaking up for what you believe in the face of attacks takes courage

It does. But constructively and collaboratively engaging in a debate so that it is a growth experience for the participants would be more commendable, IMO.

Sometimes our beliefs are not well grounded or helpful. Courage in the obstruction of understanding, not so helpful.
