McCain Gets Grilled on ‘The View’ Over Palin

Friday, September 12, 2008

If John McCain was hoping to cruise through his fifth appearance on “The View,” he was in for a surprise Friday.

Within seconds of walking on the set, the Republican presidential nominee was grilled by the co-hosts of the ABC morning show over his choice of Sarah Palin as running mate and his claims that together they will reform Washington.

“I don’t see the old John McCain who used to buck the system as much, I understand why. You want to get elected,” said co-host Joy Behar.

“I’m the same person that I always was,” McCain answered.

Behar also accused McCain of spreading “lies” in his latest TV ads, one of which accused Barack Obama of smearing Palin by using the phrase “lipstick on a pig.”

“You yourself used the same expression,” co-host Barbara Walters said.

McCain used that expression last year to describe Hillary Clinton’s health care policies.

Earlier, Walters skeptically questioned how Palin would reform Washington.

“How?” she pressed.

McCain asserted Palin was a “reform” governor of Alaska and cut spending, while Walters countered that she accepted earmarks.

“She’s ignited a spark in America, and sometimes different views, but the fact is it’s got people engaged and involved in the political process. It’s good for America,” McCain said in his running mate’s defense.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg also questioned Palin’s faith, asking him if he believes in separation of church and state.

“Sure,” McCain said.

“So if you believe in the separation of church and state,” Goldbert followed up, “did it not give you a moment of pause that Sarah Palin, should God forbid anything happen to you, not have the same beliefs that you do about these things?”

Later asking about McCain’s strict interpretation of the Constitution, she added: “Should I be worried about being a slave and being returned to slavery? Because certain things happened in the Constitution that had to change.”

“I understand your point,” McCain said.

The interview softened a bit when the hosts played newly released footage of his release from captivity during the Vietnam War, and asked McCain to react.

McCain was then joined by his wife, Cindy, on the program, who praised her husband for putting “country first.”

“In every part of what he did in the Senate or in the House or certainly in the Navy, it was always about what would be best for the country,” she said.

The Arizona senator was later expected to tape an appearance on “The Rachael Ray Show” in New York.

If you put gluon in a bag and sniff it, it will blow your mind into the next universe. Only a boson would do that, however.

Had Ron a few more particles, he would quark.

you answer is not elementary. you see elements are made up of protons and neutrons and electrons. and one can speak to all nature of speculation of sub components??, but it does not really explain why like charged protons stick together in the nucleus of atoms.
