I've enjoyed Q8's posts and understood what he was trying to do.

The way I see it is anyone who posts on this thread has been successful in trading/investing in energy over the years. Several of us old timers have quit our day jobs and this is our life. The ones who aren't into the energy story, don't hang out here.

Additionally posters are mostly upper income individuals. Block trading hundreds of thousands of dollars isn't rare. This isn't yahoo where someone may get excited about his 300 shares of BQI.

Back to business!

We got a huge challenge coming with Ike and how the market plays it.

In my opinion, the market will breath a sigh of relief and sell energy. Look! everyone, the refineries are still upright. That's has to be good news!!!

The problem with the above is electrical power and the delayed time to access damage. Power hasn't come back on after Gustov for some in LA.

Their are 3 floaters dragging anchors and inspection will take time.

Michael

"Got to admit that it's funny that we are all here to trade and make money, but somehow posting dollar figures violates Big Dog Boom Boom Room etiquette"

I don't think it is etiquette as much as insecurity and jealousy.. When people started to compare thier own portfolio with what is being posted, they start to realized that they are really not doing as well as they thought both in portfolio size and ability to make good day to day investment decision. But instead of learning, they feel threaten by it and will do anything to get people not to post their trade and return (why not just ignore the poster??). It is one of the reason that talking about money is a taboo in our culture.

I think some carry this dreamy notion that everyone in a msg board has a equal audience on their thoughts on investment. Certainly everyone has their right to express how they see the investment world around us evolve. But it does not mean I or anyone else care. I only have a certain amount of hours everyday that I read from msg board, 10k, news, industry presentation etc to make my investment decision. Why should I waste my time on someone who can't even get their own portfolio in a good shape? What value should I place on their opinion? (none) I think people posting real time trade and the size of their trade really threaten this group of posters because it threaten their illusion that their opinion is worth the price of gold..
