>>OK, now I see. I was referring to reading the scriptures.

To accept or reject the reality of God, it helps to actually 'know' what he said.....'know' being a result of reading and/or studying and, of course, talking to God, i.e. prayer.<<

Kate -

Well, to bring up a point close to what KonKilo said, we don't have any way of knowing that God is being quoted accurately in the Bible, or whether he's being quoted at all.

You mentioned Ezekiel and Revelation as being two rather wacky books from the New Testament. Have you read Leviticus? It's nutty. The Word of God? I wouldn't make that assumption.

Prayer is another thing altogether. I pray. I also occasionally hear from a still, small voice within. I don't know if that voice is a manifestation of God. It has usually spoken up either to warn me against taking a certain course, or to confirm that I am safe on one. It has not been wrong yet, in my experience.

But I'd have to go a long way to convince myself that it is the voice of an omniscient being who created the Universe.
