Yes, indeed. If someone is trying to decide whether a supreme being is real or not, it seems to me that at some point they have to plant their feet, so to speak, in some one religion and read, discuss, ponder, pray, whatever...... to start the journey. The difficulty is that to do this, one has to start with some semblance of belief, or at least a "willing suspension of disbelief", AND presume that God was literally communicating with man. Becoming a religious is a journey not a destination.
