If the Dems lose, it's because, once again, the Rovian lie tactics won. Even on a fluff show like The View, McCain lied. He said that Palin never took earmarks. So, the only question is: is he ignorant, or just a liar? Heck, not only did Palin take earmarks ($200 million this year), but she hired a lobbyist to get $26 million while she was mayor of a hamlet of 9,000 people. All this, you could argue, is simply politics. Here it turned into Rovian lies is their contention from the start that Palin was different, and that she fought against earmarks and ridiculous projects. But, this time, something different is happening. People are actually paying attention. The media is actually doing its job. The lies are being exposed - see the NYT article - and this time, independents and Republicans themselves are taking notice. People are astonished by the change in McCain - from being an honest maverick to the McBush Rove-slinger he is today. I guess it's more than just power that corrupts - it is the realization that you're just THIS close to that power. Country John McCain...
