Karen, it looks like Washington State Republicans are fired up based on this email I received. I would love to see McCain/Palin do a rally in the Space Needle grounds. Wouldn't that be a kick? This could upset the whole electoral college numbers. One more poll like this and Washington will have to go into the undecided block. That's 11 electoral college votes up for grabs.

Good morning everyone. Today is a great day for Team McCain and we should all be proud. Washington State has closed to within 2% of Obama in our state (results and press release below). We need to continue this movement and turn this state red for McCain. Encourage all of the volunteers within your county about the efforts they are performing to win this election.

We have not yet reached our peak and with your continued support we are going to win this election and make history at the same time. As we have heard many times before, now is not the time for complacency but a time to push forward. This is our surge towards victory!!!!

I am very proud to be a part of this team and thankful to be working with such a dedicated group of volunteers.
Great job everyone.

Election 2008: Washington Presidential Election
McCain Closes to Within Two Points of Obama in Washington
Friday, September 12, 2008

Washington is the latest state to show a strong western surge for John McCain since he added Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Washington finds Barack Obama still ahead, but barely. It’s Obama 49%, McCain 47%. A month ago, Obama was up by twelve percentage points.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows John McCain up by three points, his largest lead since Obama wrapped up the Democratic Presidential Nomination. For most of the past several months, Obama has held a modest lead with McCain slipping ahead by a single point on just three of the past hundred days.

McCain now attracts 48% of the vote while Obama earns 45%. When "leaners" are included, it’s McCain 49%, Obama 46%. Yesterday, the candidates were tied.
