It's one of those Goose in a bottle type of conundrums. The fallacy is looking at it as a pupeteer pulling strings when it's probably more akin to a grass roots phenomenon. When the same pattern shows up in the shape of galaxies and a tiny mollusk, when one sees fractals and chaos in all things great and small and all emergent phenomena seem to have so much in common, it's really not a matter of creating an extraneous postulate
