They might have seemed like 'gotchas', cause Palin is so new to this arena. The Republicans brought this on themselves, when Davis said that he would severely restrict access to Palin by the media. So, Gibson had to represent a lot, and probe a good deal in a relatively short interview.

If the Republicans weren't so afraid of having Palin answer questions, there might have been time for more fluff. The McCain campaign dictated otherwise.
