"it is the fact that they tried to make it seem otherwise." I have gotten the impression that the image they project is, she was tough and battled the good old boy system maintaining remarkable poise throughout, while getting everything she could for her state and its citizens... and that she had done so ethically, including reforming the relationship with big oil and federal expenditures. Now that she is allied with McCain, battling the earmark spending institution itself has become the primary target for her, where as that was McCain's, not her, big thing before.
