What I worry about is how the Americans will react to having to live like most of the rest of the world i.e. without their hummers and super trucks! I am hoping we do not resort to hedgemony and jingoism!! I don't think most Americans realize their lifestyle is at stake.

One of my barometers of how things are going in some places is several people in my address book that are in Colorado/MT..easiest broad brush to describe them is Libertarians with a conservative bias.. They did not like McCain or Obama for that matter, since day one but lean McCain if they're going to vote at all.. I've not received one, and I mean not one, "rah-rah Palin has saved us" email from them...they've ignored her...their deal/issue against Obama(beyond some racial fears) is taxes and guns.. Just wanted to add some color re: why I've not been as anxious as others here..obviously my anecdotes are just that..but I wanted to share that I've not seen/heard the bounce in my daily life which includes being parked right now in a conservative part of NY state...
