2008 7:09:12 PM That was an assumption on my part, but feel that despite less communication in that era, people were at least vaguely aware of his disability especially after his long tenure. Most didn't even know he limped. Cartoons always showed him vigorous. Remember, the only images people saw were in the newsreels. Those were controlled. When FDR appeared at conventions he walked to the podium. It was stagecraft, but it worked.
