US taxpayers already pay more per student than any other nation. Increased funds won't make any difference. Effective teaching methods are the answer, and the ability to identify the best teachers. Teachers unions fight it tooth and nail--they don't want their members held to standards and performance appraisals, like the majority of US employees.
